This logistical centre in Amsterdam purchases, tests, and stores equipment including vehicles, communications material, power supplies, water-processing facilities and nutritional supplements.

SAMU provides strategic, clinical and implementation support to various MSF projects with medical activities related to HIV and TB. This medical unit is based in Cape Town, South Africa.

Peru

MSF increases assistance in post-earthquake region of Peru

MSF first started working at the Peru earthquake on August 17, with staff and a shipment of relief supplies to the region. To date, over 2,200 people have benefited from the MSF mental health programme and, so far, 2,500 families (around 12,500 people) have benefited from MSF distributions of relief goods.

Lampedusa shipwrecks - and the number of victims continues to increase

Each summer, Italy receives thousands of migrants arriving in boats from Africa. Lampedusa, a small island south of Sicily, is a landing spot for more than 18,000 immigrants per year. Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) provides medical care at the port where boats land after hazardous trips across the Mediterranean Sea. In recent weeks, a series of rather dramatic landings have been recorded in the Canal of Sicily, with people arriving in a very bad state.

Our actions are guided by medical ethics and the principles of independence and impartiality. We are a non-profit, self-governed, member-based organisation.
