MSF worked in Romania from 1997 until 2003 to improve homeless people's access to medical care. The project was particularly focused on the capital city of Bucharest and resulted in legislation being passed for homeless people to have easier access to free medical insurance. MSF's centre in Bucharest assisted around 5,000 homeless adults in 2002.
