Following the clashes to the north of Abyei town last week, MSF team keeps running medical activities in the town and surrounding villages where displaced people arrived.
The situation has been relatively calm on this (Monday) morning, allowing our teams to work in the area although we are still waiting for the permission to give assistance to population in the north of the Abyei area.
On Saturday, a mobile clinic was conducted in the village of Mading-Achueng, a few kilometers south of Abyei, where MSF believes there are at least 1,000 newly displaced people. The mobile clinic treated 100 patients; one person was referred to the MSF hospital in Agok, 40km south, for further treatment.
On Monday morning, the outpatient department in Abyei already received 50 patients. Hospital activities, including surgical capacity for treating wounded continue in Agok.
