There are some press reports regarding a supected viral haemorrhagic fever in Durba, near Watsa in the northeastern part of DRC.
Some people see this disease as Ebola but MSF cannot confirm as yet what this disease is. Since Sunday (01 May 1999) MSF has four people in the region:
- One epidemiologist
- One doctor (who worked in Kikwit and Gabon and is an Ebola specialist)
- One Head of Mission from the project in Kisangani
- One water/sanitation logistician
They are doing tests and tomorrow (Tuesday 04 May 1999) the samples will be sent to South Africa.
