On May 12, the MSF team returned to the town of Bosasso in northern Somalia after being evacuated on May 7. The team runs a cholera treatment centre (CTC) in Bosasso, which has been active during a cholera outbreak that has been present since April 13.
The team had to be evacuated after fighting broke out in the area between opposing troops. The situation has calmed again and the ex-pat staff have returned.
The national staff in Bosasso kept the CTC running in the absence of the expats. In one month, a total of 1,000 patients have been treated there.
