This morning (Nov 13, 2001), a team of volunteers from the international medical aid agency Médecins sans Frontières (MSF) managed to reach Kabul, Afghanistan from the Panshir Valley.

The team of four people consists of a doctor, nurse, an administrator and a logistician. The team has re-established full contact with MSF's Afghan employees there.

Today, this team will carry out an evaluation of the population's needs in Kabul. On September 14, around 70 international staff from MSF were forced to leave the Taliban-administered territory of Afghanistan.

Since that time, MSF's 600 Afghan employees were nevertheless able to maintain most of the relief activities in the country. MSF is currently trying to re-establish a normal international presence in the other locations where it works in Afghanistan.
