We set up the MSF Access Campaign in 1999 to push for access to, and the development of, life-saving and life-prolonging medicines, diagnostic tests and vaccines for people in our programmes and beyond.

MSF maintains operations on Rutshuru territory

Fighting resumed in early July in the region of Rutshuru, after a brief lull. Rebels of the March 23, 2009 movement (M23) advanced towards the towns of Jomba Chengerero, Rwanguba and Bunagana until they took control of Rutshuru and Kiwanja on Sunday, 8 July. Repercussions of the conflict in Kivu

The population of the Kivu provinces in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo is fighting an incessant war of survival, not only against the bullets flying in the latest peak of this long-running conflict but also against the vacuum of infrastructure and health resources. MSF teams already received and treated 8 severely injured patients at Aden hospital, transferred from Jaar Health Post, and 43 were received at Lawdar Hospital, both supported by MSF. Mauritania

Nearly one thousand Malian refugees pour into the Mbera camp every day

Since late January, some 57,000 Malians have entered the Mbera refugee camp in Mauritania. Refugee numbers are steadily increasing, from 200 arrivals on April 5 to 1,500 a day. In response to this massive influx, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is bolstering its activities and emergency medical aid in this desert area, where access to medical care is extremely limited. Food insecurity threatens as thousands of Malian refugees gather in desert

More than 28,000 Malian refugees have been forced to seek refuge in the border region of Mauritania following the conflict between the Malian army and Tuareg rebels that broke out in northern Mali last month.
