The MSF programme here is focused on treating patients with HIV/AIDS and providing them with life-prolonging anti-retroviral (ARV) treatment in the breakaway republic of Transnistria. Along with HIV/AIDS care to the patients in Tiraspol, Ribnitsa and Slobodzea, MSF team also pays weekly visits to Bender TB hospital to treat co-infected patients. The MSF programme has extended into the prison system, where the HIV/AIDS prevalence is high. The rate of co-infection is also much higher in the prison system, with TB being the biggest cause.
